Vijayasai Reddy, the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) apologised to M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Rajya Sabha Chairman.
On the 9th of February, the YSRCP MP apologised for his remarks towards the chairman during the ongoing Parliament Budget Session.
On the 8th of February, Mr. Reddy demanded an expunge of remarks made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP K. Ravindra Kumar against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Mr. Reedy continued with his argument and demanded for an expunge of the remarks and criticised the Rajya Sabha Chairman.
However, Mr. Reddy’s criticism was unintentional, his arguments questioned the functional ability of the Rajya Sabha Chairman.
The Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said the remarks are intended to make the chairman disfunctional.
The chairman said that he resigned from thean party before assuming the constitutional post and never attended any political programmes since then.
In chorus to Mr. Naidu statement, several members also raised objections over the remarks of Vijayasai Reddy.
Considering the situation, Mr. Reddy on the 9th of February, extended apology.
In his apology, Vijayasai Reddy said he had no intention to make the chair dysfunctional. He said, “I am no one to make the chairman of Rajya Sabha dysfunctional.”
He stated, “Yesterday episode was I was in a state of anguish and therefore wish to take back my word. I sincerely regret and regret my comments made yesterday. They were unintended and made on the spur of anguish. I had become emotional assure you sir I have no intention to hurl such a or cast aspirations to the chair. I therefore regret once again and I assure you sir it will not be repeated again. (Sic.)”
The Union Budget Parliament session is underway and would end on the 15th of February. The second phase of the Budget Session is scheduled from 8th of March till the 8th of April.
