From the 8th of July, Andhra Pradesh would enjoy relaxations from the ongoing curfew in the wake of the Wuhan virus pandemic. 

The relaxation would include re opening of cinema halls, dine in restaurants, gyms, marriage halls from Thursday, the 8th of July. The aforementioned establishments could operate with 50 % capacity. In terms of cinema halls, the shows would run on alternate timings, following all the guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

In addition, the curfew relaxation time has also been increased till 10:00 P.M. With this in 11 districts of Andhra Pradesh, the relaxation time would be from 6:00 A.M., to 10:00 P.M., and the curfew timing would be from 10:00 P.M., to 6:00 A.M. However, two districts, East Godavari and West Godavari, which has more than 5 % positive COVID-19 rate need to follow curfew timing from 7:00 P.M., as relaxation timing is between 6:00 A.M., to 7:00 P.M., 3 hours less than other districts.

Speaking about the operational timings, it is till 9:00 P.M., in 11 districts and 6:00 P.M., for West Godavari and East Godavari.

On the 5th of July, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, took the decision to further relax the curfew. The decision was taken at a high-level review meeting after considering the current COVID-19 situation in the State.

The revised curfew hours will come into force from the 8th of July. In regard to this, the Chief Minister’s Office released an official notification. The CMO’s official release read, “All establishments should strictly follow the Covid protocols. COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour like wearing of facial masks, hand sanitisation and physical distancing are a must.”

Andhra Pradesh has been following COVID-19 curfew since the 5th of May, which has been extended four times to contain the spread of the virus.
