On the 5th of January, India added 16,375 new Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases.
In the past 24 hours, the Nation reported 16,375 COVID-19 cases, 201 deaths.
With this, the overall number of positive cases in India stood at 1.03 crores.
The updated data is available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
According to the MoHFW data, till date, India has 1,03,56,844 positive cases, of which 2,31,036 are active cases, 99,75,958 recovered/discharged cases and 1,49,850 deceased.
The number of fresh infections is marginally lower than yesterday, which was nearly 19,000.
With this the recovery rate of India from COVID-19 is 96.32 % and fatality rate stands at 1.45 %.
The COVID-19 active caseload remained below 3 lakh for the 15th consecutive day.
Meanwhile, the cases of U.K., COVID-19 strain reached a total of 58 cases in India.
The Union Health Ministry urged people to remain cautious and follow all the rules and guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus.
In addition, the Ministry also assured to launch COVID-19 vaccine in May 2021.
