India At Risk With Second Wave of Novel Coronavirus

The Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases are on a rise in the Nation.  The concerned officials said the situation is going from bad to worse.

V.K.Paul, the Chairman of the National Expert Committee on Vaccine Administration cautioned on Tuesday.

Addressing the weekly press conference, V.K.Paul said,”As you have noticed in the last few weeks, the situation is becoming worse. It is a serious cause of concern. In some States, there is a huge cause of worry. No part of the country should be complacent.”

Mr. Paul said, “Coronavirus is still very active, can penetrate our defences and strike back when we think that we have found ways to control it.”  He further added, “We are facing an increasingly severe and intensive situation in some districts but the whole country is potentially at risk. All efforts to contain the virus and save lives should be taken.”

Meanwhile, speaking to the media over the Novel Coronavirus situation in the country, the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the weekly national average positivity rate is at 5.65 %.

Of the 11,064 genome samples sequenced, the UiK variant detected in 807, South African variant in 47 and Brazilian variant found in one, Bhushan further said.

In addition, the Nation is conducting the vaccination drive for the Novel Coronavirus.  Two India made vaccines, COVAXIN and Covishield are being administered to people.  The two made in India vaccines are effective against the United Kingdom (U.K.,)  Brazil and South Africa’s COVID-19 vaccine mutant which was more dangerous in transmission than the existing one.

Mr. Bhushan also said that many states are not isolating positive patients and that people are being told to isolate at home.  He said,”It must be monitored if people are isolating at home. If they can’t, they must be quarantined institutionally. Delhi was able to bring numbers under control through it.”

Meanwhile, the daily report of COVID-19 cases are on the rise with a massive number of minimum 50,000 cases.

Stay tuned for further updates.
