India COVID-19 Cases Hit New Record With 2 Lakh Plus Single Day Spike

With 2,00,739 new Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, India reported a new record of a single day hike. This is the first time India’s COVID-19 cases on a daily basis crossed the 2 lakh mark, taking the toll to 1,40,74,564 cases. 

This is the 30th day, the Nation reported more than 50,000 cases and 8th day, India reported more than 1.5 lakh cases.

On the 15th of April, the Union Health Ministry recorded 2,00,739 active cases, of which maximum number of cases were from Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Rajasthan, Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana. Besides 2 lakh new cases, the Nation recorded 1,038 deaths and 93,528 recoveries.

The updated data of COVID-19 was confirmed by the Union Health Ministry and is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

As per the MoHFW data, the active cases surpassed the 14 lakh mark on the 15th of April and stood at 14,71,877, total recoveries from COVID-19 stood at 1,24,29,564 and people died due to the infection was 1,73,123.

With this India’s active case load rate is 10.46 %, national COVID-19 recovery rate has dropped to 88.31% and fatality rate is now at 1.23 %.

In addition, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR,) a total of 26,20,03,415 samples including 13,84,549 samples in the past 24 hours, have been tested up to the 14th of April.

Highlighting the measures taken to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus and control the situation, many state governments decided to undergo partial lockdown, night curfew or weekend curfews.

Delhi announced weekend curfew from Fridays 10:00 P.M., till Mondays 6:00 A.M.

The Maharashtra Government announced a janata curfew till the 1st of May.

The Uttar Pradesh Government announced a night curfew in the State. 

The Karnataka Government imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and announced night curfew in 7 major cities including Bengaluru.

All schools in Uttar Pradesh will be closed till the 15th of May while board exams for classes 10 and 12 have been postponed till the 20th of May.

Punjab also has night curfew in several cities. In addition, recently students of class X would be promoted based on internal assessment.
