In India, the single day Wuhan virus cases, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19,) were recorded below 50,000. This is the 11th consecutive day, the nation reported below 55,000 COVID-19 cases.
In the past 24 hours, India recorded 48,698 new COVID-19 cases, 1,183 deaths and 64,818 recovered/discharged cases. The cases were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on the morning of the 26th of June, Saturday.
In addition, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) confirmed 39,95,68,448 samples for COVID-19 were tested. Of the total, 17,35,781 samples were tested on Thursday, the 25th of June.
With this, India has 3,01,83,143 positive cases of which 5,95,565 are active cases, 2,91,93,085 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,94,493 deceased cases. In addition, the recovery rate of India also improved to 96.61 %.
The updated figures are available on the official website of the Union Ministry Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.) According to the Ministry, India is the second country with the highest number of COVID-19 cases, the first nation is the United States of America (U.S.A.)
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry said, till date a total of 31,50,45,926 people have been vaccinated against the Wuhan virus infection. Of the total, 61,19,169 people were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, concerned over the rapidly increasing Delta Plus variant cases in India, on the 25th of June, the Central Government ordered eight states and union territories (UTs) in the nation to adopt immediate containment measures including preventing crowds, ramping up COVID-19 testing and vaccination drive in districts.
In a letter addressed to the governments of Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Haryana, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan stressed on implementing the containment measures on a priority basis.
