The Telangana Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases crossed 4.87 lakh cases with 5,559 new cases.
In the past 24 hours, the State Medical Department confirmed 5,559 new cases, 41 deaths and 8,061 recovered/discharged cases. The new updated figure was released through a media bulletin. The bulletin was released to update the COVID-19 situation of the State on the night of the 8th of May.
According to the bulletin, of the total cases, the highest numbers were from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts. With the addition of fresh infections, the total tally of COVID-19 case is at 4,87,199. Of the positive cases, 3,62,160 are recoveries, 71,308 are active cases and 2,666 are death cases.
This is the third consecutive day, when the State reported more recoveries than new cases. In just 24 hours, active cases reduced from 73,851 to 71,308 cases. In addition, 79.6 % of the total active cases are asymptomatic while 20.4 % are symptomatic.
The news bulletin was based on the 65,375 samples, which were tested for the Novel Coronavirus infection in between the 6th and the 7th of May. With this, the cumulative total of tests conducted till date stand at 1,34,88,498.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate of Telangana from COVID-19 is 84.81 % and fatality rate is at 0.54 %.
