After repeatedly saying no lockdown in Telangana, the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government is mulling to impose a partial lockdown or a complete lockdown in Telangana.
The decision was taken considering the current situation of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Telangana. The State is witnessing more than 5,000 cases regularly, increasing the active cases to 77,000.
Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, called for a Cabinet meeting on the 11th of May. During the meeting, KCR and State Cabinet ministers would discuss the COVID-19 situation and would take a decision over a complete lockdown or a partial lockdown.
In addition, KCR asked officials to submit a report about the impact of the lockdown on the farmers and daily wage earners. The possibility of giving exemption for paddy procurement drive is likely even if it decides in favour of a lockdown. The Revenue Generating Departments, mainly Commercial Taxes, Excise and Prohibition, Transport and Stamps and Registrations, were asked to submit a report on the impact of the second wave of the Coronavirus.
If sources are to be believed, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President is in favour of a partial lockdown. In case if the situation does not come under control, then the TRS Government could go with a complete lockdown.
As of now, it is said the State would have a partial lockdown from the 14th of May. However, an official notification regarding the same is awaited.
Meanwhile, currently, the State has night curfew which is in effect till the 15th of May.
