K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, held a review meeting regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the State. The meeting was conducted on the 9th of May, at Pragati Bhavan.

During the meeting, K. Chandrashekar Rao decided to add 50,000 doctors who recently completed their MBBS degree. He directed the concerned officials to accept applications of 50,000 eligible doctors in Telangana, who would join the Medical Staff to ensure smooth functioning of hospitals and clinics. The additional doctors would reduce the work pressure on the staff of the Medical and the Health Department in Telangana, who are working 24×7 to fight the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to MBBS doctors, the State Health Department also decided to recruit nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists and other paramedical personnel for a period of two to three months. The new recruitments would get salaries as well as due recognition for their service by giving additional weightage marks during recruitment into government jobs. KCR urged the young doctors as well as qualified nurses and others to come forward and serve the people during these difficult times.
