Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have both submitted their financial dealings to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in relation to the Panama Papers probe.

The documents of the Bachchan’s were filed at the ED by their representatives. After the leak of the Panama Papers, the Bachchan’s were summoned and ordered to submit their financial documents.

In 2015, the Panama Papers with 11.5 million documents were leaked. The documents were detailed information of financial and attorney client information of around 214,488 offshore entities.

These documents belonged to the Panamanian law firm and corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca that were leaked by an anonymous source.

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Shariff was removed from his position by the Supreme Court after his name was found to be part of the Panama Papers. After this, the tax authorities in India have decided to speed up the investigation. The Papers revealed the names of many Indian film stars, politicians and business personalities.

The Panamanian law firm records stated Amitabh Bachchan served as the director for four offshore shipping companies between the years 1993 and 1997.

The iconic movie star has denied any wrongdoing and stated that his overseas dealings were within the Indian tax regulations. Amitabh Bachchan has also denied having any links with the companies mentioned in the Panama Papers.
