The priest from Kerela Reverend Tom Uzhunnalil who was kidnapped from a senior citizens home in Yemen has returned to India and has arrived in Delhi.

The priest was working with the Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in March 2016 when the old age home was attacked by Daesh militants and Rev. Uzhunnalil was kidnapped.

Once the priest was brought back home safe he said, “I am very happy, I thank the Almighty for making this day possible. All people who have worked in their own ways, I am grateful.”

He was rescued on 12th September after Sushma Swaraj made efforts to bring him back. Father Uzhunnalil is now in Delhi and is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

In July, Sushma Swaraj contacted the Deputy Prime Minister of Yemen and requested him to find the priest and send him back home.
