The iconic founder of Playboy, Hugh Hefner passed away early this morning. Hefner passed away of natural causes at the age of 91 in his Playboy mansion. Playboy was founded more than 60 years ago from Hefner to provide an upscale men’s magazine.
Hefner had said that he founded the magazine with just $600 and $1,000 borrowed from his mother.
Playboy Enterprises’ Chief Creative Officer and Hefner’s son, Cooper Hefner said, “My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and freedom.”
He further added, “He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history.”
The statement released by the enterprise also stated that Hefner was survived by his wife Crystal, his three sons and one daughter.
