BO Report: Salman Khan’s “Sultan” Crosses Rs 500 Cr Worldwide

Mumbai: With positive word-of-mouth and encouraging reviews, Salman Khan’s recent offering “Sultan” is riding high at the ticket windows. Starring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma in the leads, the movie seems to emerge as the third highest grosser ever in the Hindi cinema. The film managed to cross Rs 500 crore worldwide within 12 days of its release. The film earned Rs 260 crore at the box office in the country.

Popular film trade analyst, Taran Adarsh took to his micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “#Sultan new poster… Crosses ₹ 500 cr [gross] WORLDWIDE… $ 75 million… #YRF.”

Currently, “Sultan” is the fourth highest earner and is behind Aamir Khan starrer “PK”, “Dhoom 3” and also Salman’s “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”.

Tipped to be a romantic sports drama, “Sultan” revolves around Sultan Ali Khan, a fictional wrestling champion from Haryana whose successful career creates a rift in his personal life. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, the much-appreciated movie opened to packed houses on July 6, 2016.
