Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh has denied reports linking her to recent Income Tax searches in Mumbai. She said the searches were not related to her.
Rakul addressed the reports on social media on Monday. She said some reports had published claims without checking the facts and called the reports false and speculative.
The actress also denied any involvement in illegal foreign remittances. She said she does not hold any benami property in India or abroad.
Rakul said she has been paying her taxes since the age of 20. She also said she had no support from a film industry “Godfather” and built her career through hard work.
She urged media outlets that published the reports to correct the information. She said such reports could affect a person’s reputation and livelihood.
The Mumbai Income Tax Department had conducted searches at 12 locations as part of an investigation into suspected financial irregularities. Officials were reportedly looking into claims that money was routed overseas in connection with film projects.
