Swiss Confederation President Guy Parmelin received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday during his three-day State visit to India.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Parmelin. He is expected to hold talks with Modi on trade, investment, science, technology, innovation and mobility.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Parmelin is leading a high-level delegation of senior officials and business leaders. This is his first State visit to India and his second visit to the country this year. He had earlier visited India in February for the AI Impact Summit.
Modi and Parmelin will also discuss regional and global issues and cooperation in international forums. Parmelin will meet President Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honour. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will also meet him.
Parmelin will attend the India-EFTA Prosperity Summit on October 7. The visit is aimed at strengthening long-standing ties between India and Switzerland.
