Hyderabad: TSRTC vice chairman and managing director VC Sajjanar announced that Maha Lakshmi scheme is super successful in the state. He said that the scheme is very useful for the women who struggle to commute. He said that 12 crore women travelled in RTC buses during 45 days which is a new record.
Sajjanar attended as chief guest at the Louis Braille 215 birth anniversary celebrations conducted by the blind employees association at Telugu University on Sunday.
Sajjanar said that physically challenged persons are facing problems with the free bus scheme for women. He said that RTC is heading to procure 2375 buses very shortly, which will help overcome this problem. Sajjanar said that special buses for disabled persons are proposed in the busy routes.
He promised that blind people will be recruited as announcers and enquiry blocks at RTC bus stands soon.
