On Tuesday night, the Special Cell dealt with a huge drug bust arresting two and seizing 4 Kgs of heroin worth Rs. 16 crores. The accused from Punjab have been identified as Darbara Singh who goes by the alias Billa and Sandeep Singh alias Ajay. Darbara Singh is a most wanted heroin dealer and has connections to the notorious drug lord, Buta Singh who is presently in Punjab’s Nabha jail.
Darbara Singh and his nephew Sandeep Singh received the heroin from Afghanistan through Pakistan. They were delivering the substance to Delhi.
Sanjeev Yadav DCP, Special Cell reported, “A team led by ACP Pankaj Sood and inspector Attar Singh laid a trap following a tip off and nabbed the accused. An Alto car, bearing Punjab’s registration number, in which they were traveling was impounded.”
They were interrogated and revealed that a courier brings the heroin in concealed capsules that are swallowed by the smuggler to easily travel from Afghanistan to India through Pakistan.
The gang not only deals in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana but they have an international reach and supply heroin to England, France, Canada and South Africa using courier companies.

Darbara has been previously convicted for 3 cases of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) in Punjab. He was convicted with 32 years imprisonment adding a Rs. 3 lakh fine. In the year 2015, Darbara was granted parole which he took advantage of and absconded to continue his illegal trading.
Special Cell, Sanjeev Yadav reported Darbara’s previous convictions, “He and a few others were arrested in a case under NDPS Act in Hoshiyarpur for possessing 3 tons of poppy straw, the plant heroin is made from. After getting bail, in that case, he re-indulged in supplying drugs. In 1998, he was again arrested with four others for possessing 1,600 kgs of poppy straw in Jalandhar. After getting bail, he was arrested for possessing 680 kgs of poppy straw in PS Nawansehar, Punjab. He was then convicted for all three cases and was undergoing imprisonment when he was granted parole and absconded.”
Darbara’s wife, Sarabjeet Kaur is also part of this notorious illegal trade. She has been involved in 10 cases that have been registered under the NDPS Act. She is presently imprisoned in the Ludhiana jail and facing trail.
