Adilabad: In a smuggling tactic straight from the film Pushpa, police intercepted a milk tanker attempting to transport 290 kg of ganja at the Vankidi Interstate Check Post in Kumuram Bhim district. The incident, which occurred during police checks on Thursday evening, showcased a method similar to the film’s famous red sandalwood smuggling scene, but this time involved ganja hidden in specially constructed compartments within the tanker.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Srinivasa Rao provided details, explaining that the vehicle, en route from Rajamahendravaram in Andhra Pradesh to Madhya Pradesh, raised suspicion at the checkpoint. Upon inspection, officers discovered 290 kg of ganja concealed within custom-made shelves inside the tanker, estimated to be worth ₹72.5 lakhs.
The driver, identified as Balveer Singh, has been arrested, while authorities are actively pursuing the main accused behind this operation. SP Srinivasa Rao commended the alertness of the police team responsible for this significant bust, reaffirming the department’s commitment to cracking down on smuggling activities in the region.
