New Delhi: Vizianagaram MP Kalishetty Appalanaidu has urged Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to establish Visa Application Centers in Amaravati and Visakhapatnam, highlighting the increasing demand from Andhra Pradesh students and professionals heading to countries like the USA, Canada, and the UK. The MP submitted a petition to this effect during a meeting with the minister on Friday.
Appalanaidu pointed out that Andhra Pradesh contributes 22% of Indian students pursuing higher education abroad. However, the lack of visa processing centers in the state forces residents to travel to Hyderabad, Chennai, or Delhi, adding unnecessary burden and expenses. Setting up visa centers in Amaravati and Visakhapatnam would significantly ease this process for AP residents.
The MP also addressed the plight of workers from Andhra Pradesh facing dire living conditions in Gulf countries. He urged Indian embassies in these regions to take proactive steps to support and assist these workers.
The demand for new visa centers reflects Andhra Pradesh’s growing global connectivity and its residents’ aspirations for better education and job opportunities abroad.
