Bangalore: On Tuesday, a 21 year old engineering student, Lokesh Eeranna, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his room. The reason behind the suicide is that he was depressed of not getting his hall ticket from the college management owing to shortage of attendance. It implies that he was not allowed to appear for the upcoming semester examination.
The Kadugodi police have lodged a case against the management of MVJ College of Engineering under the section 306 (abetment of suicide).
Lokesh’s father, Eeranna rushed to Bangalore on Wednesday and lodged a complaint accusing the college management of abetting his son’s suicide. Eeranna explained that his son had called him at around 11 A.M. on Tuesday, informing that college management had refused to issue him hall ticket for the semester exam. “I told him to request the principal. In the evening, he called my wife and said that he was depressed as he won’t get the hall ticket. I got a call from the police in the night saying he has committed suicide,” said Eeranna. “The college management never brought the matter of attendance shortage to my notice. Else, I would have intervened,” he added.
However, MVJ College of Engineering principal, Guna Shekhar couldn’t be contacted and the college remained shut on Wednesday.

Earlier, Lokesh had participated with several other students on strike from June 1 to June 3 after they were issued a list of 69 students with the shortage of attendance, informing that they will not be allowed to sit for the exam.
