Ladu Kishore Swain, the leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and a Member of Parliament (MP) of the Aska Lok Sabha constituency, passed away, on the 5th of February.
Mr. Swain, 71 years old, was suffering from a kidney related illness and was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He was admitted, on the 5th of February, after he complained of difficulties in breathing.
Ladu Kishore Swain was elected as a member of the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014. In 2004, he was also elected to the Odisha State Assembly as a representative of the Kabisuryanagar constituency, Ganjam district.
Born in the year 1947, Mr. Swain started his political career as the Chairman of the Panchayat Samiti in Odisha from 1984 to 1990 and 1992 to 1995. He was also a member of the Zilla Parishad from 2002 to 2004.
Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, saddened over the demise, conveyed his condolences to Mr. Kumar Swain’s family.

Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, also expressed his grief over Mr. Kumar’s death.

Kumar is survived by his wife, Manjula Swain, their two sons and one daughter. According to his family, the last rites of Ladu Kumar Swain will be performed in Kabisuryanagar, his ancestral village in Odisha.
Political leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many others took to Twitter and conveyed their condolences to Ladu Kumar Swain’s family.
