This morning the Security forces were in an encounter with three terrorists in Brenti-Batpora village in Jammu Kashmir. The encounter finally came to an end resulting in the death of two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants including Bashir Lashkari who is believed to be involved in the killing of six policemen last month.
The encounter also ended with the death of two civilians Tahira (44) and Shadab Ahmad Chopan (21).
Director General Police, S.P. Vaid reported, “The encounter is over. Two militants have been killed.”
S.P. Vaid also revealed the militants that died in the encounter were Bashir Lashkari and Azad Dada from the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group.
Tahira died early in the morning in the crossfire and Chopan died later on the day after he had firearm injuries on his face.
Four people were injured in the encounter and were admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The police have reported that Lashkari and his group were behind the killing of SHO Feroz Ahmad Dar and five other officers on June 16th at Achabal area of South Kashmir.
Early this morning, security forces launched a search operation and cordoned off the area in Brenti-Batpora in Anantnag. The militants opened fire on the forces turning the search operation into an encounter.
A police spokesperson revealed that the terrorists used 17 civilians as human shields. The security forces successfully saved the civilians and managed to kill two of the militants.
