In three different clashes in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, 25 people were injured according to police reports. On Friday, police said the clashes in two places erupted over alleged eve teasing.
In Hashimpura village of Muzaffarnagar, Thirteen people were seriously injured in a clash between two groups. The Station House Officer A.K. Mishra said Mehtab and Ashu were confronted by a group of people for harassing a woman. This led to a violent clash which included stones and sharp weapons.
Mishra also said the injured have been shifted to a hospital and security has been tightened in all the villages.
In a second incident, more than six were injured in a violent confrontation between two groups over eve teasing at the Nala village in Shamli. The clash started after a man named Babu objected to the harassment of a woman by members of the second group.
The police were ushered to the spot immediately and brought the situation under control. Security was increased on the streets of Nala village after shifting the injured to the hospital.
The third incident was in Karoli village of Muzaffarnagar, where six people sustained knife injuries. The clash started after a child was thrown into dirty water by some miscreants.
The police have started investigating the accused and took six people into custody.
