Four Maoists Arrested for Deaths of CRPF Jawans in Sukma

Last month a group of 400 Maoists attacked a road opening ceremony killing 26 CRPF jawans in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. Four rebels were arrested on Wednesday evening by security forces at Phoolbadri area in Sukma.

A source told a news daily, “Two of them have confessed they were part of the attack team, which was headed by commander of 1st battalion of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PGLA) Hidma. They are being further interrogated about the whereabouts of Hidma, their other senior leaders, and further plans.”

Since the attack on 24th April, Chhattisgarh police, CRPF commandos, and other forces have been searching for the leaders of the Maoists in the dense jungles. Indian Air Force and National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) have provided air assistance to the forces.

Rajnath Singh, Home Minister urged security forces to go all out to find the Naxals and prioritize on high value targets.

Security forces have managed to detain 12 people in Sukma and 3 in Dantewada, these members are suspected to be Maoist sympathizers.

We are looking for Jan Militia members, sympathizers and active Naxal cadres in Sukma, Dantewada, and other areas,” explained one of the officials working on the case.

A unified command meeting is being conducted which was called by CM Raman Singh. Newly appointed CRPF Director General Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar will be traveling to Raipur to attend the meeting to discuss a strategy for dealing with the Maoists who are seeking refuge deeper in the forest after two major attacks.
