On Tuesday, the police reported an arrest of a 45 year old woman from Karnataka’s Kolar district. The shocking reason for the arrest is the 45 year old mother beat her 18 year old daughter to death.
“Venkatamma, an agricultural labourer, was arrested on Monday on charges of murder for hitting her daughter Rajeshwari with an iron rod, killing her on the spot,” said Kolar Superintendent of Police Rohini Katoch Sepat.
The police revealed the 45 year old Venkatamma was aggravated by an affair her daughter was having with a youth from Chinnapura village, 8 km from Kolar.
Sepat also added, “The accused confessed to the crime. She told police that her daughter was dating a boy of the village and had failed in her exam.”
Reports revealed Rajeshwari was a second year PU student and had failed in March in her English exam.
S.A. Shivaraj, Sub Inspector of Kolar Rural Police reported that Venkatamma was brought in front of the Sessions court on Tuesday and has been sent to judicial custody.
Venkatamma has been a single mother raising three children ever since her husband died 15 years ago. News channels have reported villagers questioned Venkatamma about Rajeshwari’s affair that became the tipping point for the mother’s fatal reaction.
