A two year old boy was sexually assaulted at a playschool in Kolkata on Monday. The boy complained of pain with blood stains on his pants. The mother was suspicious and rushed her son to the hospital. The medical report confirmed the minor was sexually assaulted.
The boy was crying uncontrollably when his mother picked him up from the school. The doctors who examined the minor were shocked to find massive injuries in his private parts. On Tuesday morning, the parents went to the school principal and complained of the abuse. However Principal Jayashree Anand denied the incident and shunned the parents.
The parents went on to demand CCTV footage but the school refused to help and sent the parents home. Later the mother received a phone call from the school and was informed the CCTV cameras were not recording anything between the 26th of June and 2nd of July.
This led to the parents filing a police complaint who registered the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO.)
Earlier the President of India Ram Nath Kovind signed the ordinance for the death penalty for child rape. The ordinance demands the death penalty to those accused in the rape of children below the age of 12.
Last year, the Kolkata Government was shocked when two sexual abuse incidents occurred at top Kolkata schools. A four year old girl was sexually abused at GD Birla School while another child was molested twice by a school staff.
