Nagayalanka: The recent heavy floods have severely damaged the Edurumondi-Gollamanda road in Nagayalanka Mandal, Krishna district. An estimate of ₹13.45 crore for the road’s reconstruction was submitted to Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Mr. Pawan Kalyan.

Krishna District Collector Mr. Balaji and Panchayat Raj ENC Mr. Balu Naik briefed the minister on the road’s condition. They explained that the Edurumondi to Gollamanda road via Brahmayyagarimoola runs along the Krishna River, near its confluence with the sea. Due to its proximity to the river, the road is vulnerable to backwaters during cyclones and floods. The recent floods caused significant damage, washing away a 700-meter stretch of the road.

Protecting 8,000 Acres

Although initial work on the road, estimated at ₹4 crore, had already begun, the floods have created the need for full-scale reconstruction. Officials plan to lay RCC parapets along the vulnerable 700-meter stretch before rebuilding the road to prevent future damage. This project aims to safeguard 8,000 acres of land and protect over 12,000 residents from flooding.

The Deputy CM directed officials to prioritize the reconstruction and submit revised estimates for funding through AIIB grants.
