Karimnagar: Kaleshwaram, the world’s largest multi-lift irrigation project, has transformed Telangana into a granary, said BRS Working president KTR. Accompanied by party MLAs and MLCs, KTR inspected the Lower Maneru Dam and later addressed the media, criticizing the Congress party’s portrayal of the Kaleshwaram project as a failure.

KTR expressed concern over the lack of water lifting from Kaleshwaram over the past eight months, resulting in dry crop fields. “Every day, lakhs of cusecs of water from Kaleshwaram flow downstream without being utilized. Officials report that only 45% of the expected rainfall has been recorded this year. We are here to inspect the dry projects, including Lower Maneru and Mid Maneru. Medigadda withstand a flood of 10 lakh cusecs, yet lakhs of farmers’ fields are drying up,” he stated.

KTR criticized CM Revanth Reddy for the ongoing water issues, highlighting that water in the Lower Maneru Dam (LMD) and Ranganayak Sagar is being wasted due to unutilized pumping capacity. He suggested that the state government use Kaleswaram’s pumps to fill these reservoirs, noting that the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) holds only 24 TMC of water and Mallannasagar just 5 TMC, affecting Hyderabad and other districts.
