Shatrughan Sinha, an actor turned politician, criticised the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 5th of March, for their seat winning formula in Bihar.
Mr. Sinha, who is a member of the BJP, said, the claims of the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to win 40 Lok Sabha seats are nothing more than “wishful thinking meant to keep the morale of their party cadres high.”
When asked about why Sinha did not attend the mega rally organised on the 3rd of March, by the NDA in Patna, Mr. Sinha said, “I was neither called nor I was interested in attending it.”
NDA leaders PM Modi, Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, and Ram Vilas Paswan, a Union Minister, were seen together during the rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
The location of the rally is said to be a part of the constituency of Shatrughan Sinha, Patna Saheb.
Mr. Sinha also answered the questions about his relationship with the BJP and whether it is over between the BJP and Sinha. He said, “Only time will tell whether my time with the BJP is over or the party’s time with me is over.”
Mr. Sinha had a rift with the BJP, following which, he might switch to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and contest the Lok Sabha elections in the Patna Saheb constituency.
According to sources, Sinha praised Rahul Gandhi, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC,) and also held meetings with Lalu Prasad Yadav, the President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD.)
Mr. Sinha is said to be disappointed with the BJP Government and criticised the Party’s decisions and issues, such as issues with the CBI and the RBI and demonetization. In addition, Sinha also felt left out during the Bihar Assembly elections campaign in 2015.
Shatrughan Sinha was also a Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Union Cabinet.
It is predicted, the BJP might deny a ticket to Sinha to contest the elections in the Patna Saheb constituency. However, Mr. Sinha said, he will contest from the same location, despite any change in the situation.
Bihar will contest a total of 40 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled between April and May 2019. The major parties contesting in the State are the NDA and the UPA.
