Amaravati: State Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu praised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s vision and initiative, citing the Pattiseema project as a testament. On Monday, Ramanaidu, along with MP Keshineni Chinni and former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, performed pooja and gave Jalaharati at the Ibrahimpatnam ferry ghat, celebrating the confluence of Godavari waters in Krishna.
Minister Ramanaidu highlighted that currently, only Godavari waters through Pattiseema are reaching the Krishna Delta as drinking water. He mentioned that KL Rao, a prominent figure of the Telugu nation, believed that linking rivers could save the state from drought and poverty.
Ramanaidu noted that within the last five days, 6,100 cusecs of Godavari water were released to Pattiseema by 17 pumps. He added that a total of 24 pumps would soon release 8,000 cusecs of water, providing drinking water for 30 lakh people in Krishna Delta and supporting cultivation for over 10 lakh households.
The minister criticized Jagan for neglecting the Pattiseema project, leading to water scarcity in the Pulichintala reservoir. He emphasized that the Godavari water reaching Krishna Delta allows Srisailam project water to be redirected to Rayalaseema, benefiting the region’s agriculture.
