HYDERABAD: Minister Sitakka praised the Congress government’s 2006 wasteland laws, which significantly benefited Scheduled Tribes (STs). Speaking during the budget meetings in the Legislative Assembly, Sitakka criticized Indian leaders for neglecting STs during their ten-year rule.
Sitakka demanded accountability, asking how many jobs and houses were provided to STs during that period. She claimed the current budget aims to deliver justice to all communities.
In response to BRS MLA’s inquiry about her parents’ land ownership, Sitakka explained that the law granted them sub-land rights. She noted that her father still works in the forest, reflecting their family’s dependence on it. She accused the previous government of failing to provide adequate facilities for STs.
Sitakka further highlighted that many Congress representatives are benefiting from the Rythu Bandhu scheme, emphasizing the disparity in treatment. She criticized Indian leaders for repeatedly questioning the land rights of her adivasi family while others benefited without scrutiny.
The Minister’s remarks underscore the ongoing debate about ST welfare and land rights in Telangana, calling for fair treatment and support for indigenous communities.
