Delhi: Union Minister Pemmasani’s recent comments on the implementation of the Arogyasree scheme have raised significant concerns and questions. APCC President YS Sharmila Reddy questioned whether the push for Ayushman Bharat cards signals the end of Arogyasree in Andhra Pradesh.

Questions are being asked about the state’s support for Ayushman Bharat and the potential discontinuation of Aarogyasri. Concerns include allegations that the scheme is being undermined by withholding funds, neglecting pending dues, and questioning the sufficiency of the central government’s Ayushman Bharat allocation of ₹5 lakhs.

Sharmila recalled the previous YSR Congress Party (YCP) government leaving ₹1,600 crores in arrears, leading hospitals to halt services. The current government’s ministers have made statements perceived as threatening the scheme’s implementation.

The Congress party has called for immediate clarity from coalition government leaders, including Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan . They emphasize the importance of Arogyasree, introduced by Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy, as a lifeline for poor families, and demand the release of pending funds and the scheme’s uninterrupted continuation.

This controversy highlights the ongoing political debate surrounding healthcare schemes in Andhra Pradesh, with citizens awaiting clear answers and actions from their leaders.
