Rajamahendravaram: The water level of the Godavari River is gradually receding, with a recorded level of 3.7 feet at Dhavaleswaram Cotton Barrage. Consequently, authorities have withdrawn the second danger warning. Currently, 12.95 lakh cusecs of water are being released into the sea.

Despite the receding floodwaters, several villages in Konaseema Lanka remain submerged, forcing residents of four Lankan villages to navigate through floodwaters. The heavy rains and subsequent flooding have inundated approximately 15,000 acres of paddy fields in East Godavari district, with preliminary estimates indicating a 90 percent crop loss. In response, officials have proposed providing seeds to affected farmers.

Additionally, tens of thousands of acres of banana, papaya, flowers, vegetables, and betel nut crops have been damaged. The floods have impacted 200 habitations across 50 villages in Konaseema district, disrupting the lives of fishermen and daily laborers who are now confined to their homes.

To assist residents needing to travel for emergency purposes, authorities have arranged 75 boats across the district. Efforts are ongoing to provide relief and support to those affected by the devastating floods.
