Vararamachandrapuram: In a heroic overnight rescue operation, local authorities and NDRF personnel saved a pregnant woman in critical condition amidst the ongoing Godavari floods. The floods have severely impacted the region, cutting off road access and creating life-threatening situations.
Mutyala Bhavani, a resident of Mandal Kendra, began experiencing severe back pain and complications due to heavy bleeding. Her husband, Sairam, rushed her to Rekhapalli hospital, where Dr. Anilk Mar recommended immediate transfer to Kothulagutta Hospital for advanced care.
With roads inaccessible, Tehsildar Maulana Fazil and Etapaka CI Rama Rao swiftly coordinated a rescue mission. At 1 a.m., they enlisted skilled boatman Vaddigudem Boat Venkanna and NDRF personnel. Despite high water levels and the risk of electric wires, the team successfully transported Bhavani to Koonavaram by boat, then to Kothulagutta hospital by vehicle.
Due to the lack of facilities, Bhavani was further transported to Chintoor Regional Hospital, where Dr. Kotireddy performed the necessary surgery. Bhavani safely delivered a baby girl, bringing relief to the entire rescue team.
District Medical and Health Officer Jamala Basha visited the mother and child, commending the team for their exceptional efforts in ensuring a happy ending.
