Delhi: Machilipatnam Janasena MP Vallabhaneni Balashauri has called on the central government to fulfill its promise under the Partition Act by establishing an oil refinery in Machilipatnam and a steel plant in Kadapa. Speaking during the budget debate in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Balashauri emphasized the importance of these projects for Andhra Pradesh’s development.
Balashauri expressed gratitude for the allocations made to Andhra Pradesh in the current Union Budget and urged for continued support in future budgets. Highlighting the significance of Machilipatnam, he proposed the creation of a museum, library, science center, and convention center to commemorate the establishment of the first branch of Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramaiah Andhra Bank in the town. He noted that two acres of land have already been allocated for this purpose and stressed the need for swift completion of this memorial project.
“The establishment of these facilities would not only honor the legacy of Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramaiah but also boost local infrastructure and education,” Balashauri stated.
The demand for an oil refinery and steel plant stems from promises made during the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, which included commitments to develop key industrial projects in the state. Balashauri’s appeal underscores the need for the central government to follow through on these commitments to support the state’s economic growth and job creation.
The proposed projects are expected to significantly enhance the industrial landscape of Andhra Pradesh, providing much-needed employment opportunities and contributing to the region’s overall development.
