Naveen Patnaik, the President of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD,) was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha, on the 29th of May.
Mr. Patnaik took oath as the CM in the presence of the BJD leaders and Ganeshi Lal, the Governor of Odisha. The oath taking ceremony began at 10:30 A.M., and was held at the Exhibition ground, Bhubaneswar.
This is the 5th term of Mr. Patnaik as the CM of Odisha, after winning the Odisha Assembly elections, with a majority of 112 seats out of 147 Assembly seats.
Apart from Patnaik, Ashok Chandra Panda, Samir Ranjan Dash, Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Dibya Shankar Mishra, Premananda Nayak, Raghunandan Das, Padmini Dian, Tusharkanti Behera and Jagannath Saraka also took oath as the State Ministers.
On the 28th of May, Ganeshi Lal released a statement regarding the oath taking ceremony of Mr. Patnaik and other State Ministers.
A Raj Bhavan spokesperson said, “After being satisfied that the BJD commands majority, the honourable Governor has extended invitation to Naveen Patnaik to form the new government.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and other political leaders were invited for the ceremony.
