Hyderabad: President Draupadi Murmu stressed the importance of equal justice for all citizens, highlighting that the poor often do not receive the same treatment as the rich. Speaking at the 21st convocation of NALSAR Law University on Saturday, she urged future legal professionals to work towards bridging this gap and ensuring justice for everyone.
President Murmu emphasized the ideals of justice, freedom, equality, and fraternity enshrined in the Indian Constitution. She called on NALSAR to form a national network of women lawyers and students to address violence against women and expedite related cases.
Murmu praised NALSAR for establishing the Animal Law Center, recalling her tenure as Odisha’s Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resources. She expressed hope that students would work for the conservation of animals and natural resources.
She also applauded the university’s focus on artificial intelligence in legal studies, emphasizing the importance of technology in dispute resolution and social justice.
Highlighting gender disparity, Murmu noted that although more girls received medals at the ceremony, fewer girls graduated overall. She commended them for their achievements and called on all students to uphold integrity and strive for social justice.
