Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stressed that the Telangana state government is committed to prioritizing development while safeguarding freedom and the environment. Speaking at a meet-and-greet event organized by the Southern California Telugu Community in collaboration with the local Consul General, Bhatti Vikramarka called for the involvement of the Telugu diaspora in the development of Telangana and the broader Telugu states.
Addressing the gathering, Bhatti Vikramarka reflected on Hyderabad’s transformation, lamenting the disappearance of its iconic rocks, lakes, and parks. “Hyderabad used to be known for its natural features—rocks, lakes, and parks—but now, in the name of construction, the stones are gone, lakes have been occupied, and parks have vanished,” he said. He warned that if this trend continues, cities like Hyderabad could face situations similar to the recent flooding experienced in Vijayawada, where poor urban planning exacerbated the issue.
He also criticized builders for prioritizing profit over the welfare of the underprivileged and accused them of hindering the poor in their quest for housing. “It is the government’s responsibility to protect the lives, property, and money of its citizens, and to that end, the Telangana government is working to preserve lakes and other natural resources for future generations,” he affirmed.
Bhatti Vikramarka also highlighted plans to rejuvenate Hyderabad’s Musi River by ensuring a clean flow of fresh water and developing parks along its banks. He said that the government is keen on identifying and utilizing the state’s resources effectively to support sustainable development.
The event, which took place in California, was attended by Singareni CMD Balaram Naik, Energy Department Secretary Ronald Rose, Special Secretary to the Deputy CM Krishna Bhaskar, and other dignitaries, who also addressed the Telugu community.
