Hyderabad: State Revenue, Home, and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced a comprehensive revamp of the revenue system to benefit the common man. Speaking as the chief guest at a face-to-face program with Tahsildars from 33 districts, organized at Nalsar University in Shamirpet, Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Sunday, the minister emphasized the need to prevent government land encroachment and improve services provided by revenue employees.
Minister Ponguleti outlined the government’s plan to establish training centers for revenue employees to enhance their skills and efficiency. He assured the gathering that the problems faced by revenue employees would be addressed, adding that a review of transfers for Tahsildars in coordination with labor unions is on the horizon. Ponguleti encouraged public representatives and revenue staff to work together as a team to deliver high-quality service to the people, which in turn would bring a positive image to the government.
Highlighting the vital role the revenue department plays in governance, the minister noted that it is unique in its importance across all governmental departments. “Revenue staff are involved in almost every case, making their role crucial,” he stated.
There are currently 972 Tahsildars in the state, and this program was designed to allow them to share the challenges they face at the village and mandal levels. Minister Ponguleti assured the Tahsildars that their feedback would be considered when amending revenue laws to better address field-level issues. “We are committed to improving the system and ensuring that even an inch of government land is not encroached upon,” the minister said, affirming the government’s commitment to a more efficient and transparent revenue system.
