Gudlavalleru: A serious incident has sparked outrage at an engineering college in Gudlavalleru, Krishna district, where secret cameras were allegedly discovered in the girls’ hostel washrooms. The issue came to light after midnight on Thursday, leading to widespread student protests that continued until the early hours of the morning.
The students accused a fellow BTech student, Vijay, of secretly installing the cameras and selling videos. Tensions escalated as fellow students attempted to attack Vijay, prompting the police to intervene. Vijay was arrested, and his laptop and cellphone were seized as part of the investigation. Another student is also being accused of assisting Vijay in setting up the cameras.
The incident reportedly surfaced a week ago, but students allege that the college management failed to take appropriate action, leading to the overnight agitation.
In response, State IT and Human Resources Minister Nara Lokesh has ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those responsible and directed higher officials to implement measures to prevent such incidents from recurring. Minister Lokesh also called on college managements to take proactive steps to prevent ragging and harassment in educational institutions.
