Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced that the state’s farmer loan waiver will be completed in three installments by August. The first installment, covering loans up to ₹1.5 lakhs, will see funds released at 4 PM on Thursday. By the end of July, loans up to ₹1.5 lakhs will be waived, and by August, loans up to ₹2 lakhs will be cleared.

CM Revanth Reddy made this announcement during a meeting with MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and Congress leaders at Praja Bhavan. “We pledged during the parliamentary election campaign to waive off loans by August 15, despite economic experts doubting its feasibility,” Reddy stated. He highlighted the financial challenges faced by the government and contrasted their commitment with the previous administration under KCR, which failed to waive ₹28,000 crores in farmer loans.

Reddy emphasized the commitment of the Gandhi family, particularly Rahul Gandhi, to fulfilling promises made to farmers. “It’s our duty to ensure people believe that when we give our word, we keep it,” he said, adding that Sonia Gandhi’s bold decisions, even at the party’s expense, reflect this commitment.

The loan waiver aims to uphold the dignity of farmers and make Telangana a model for agricultural policy in India. “This Thursday evening, ₹7,000 crores will be directly transferred into farmers’ accounts, followed by further waivers up to ₹2 lakhs by August,” Reddy explained. He urged Congress leaders to communicate the sincerity of the government’s efforts to support farmers.
