Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh state government has officially allocated 16,002 double bedroom houses for individuals displaced by the Moosi development project. With an estimated 10,200 people set to be affected, officials will begin door-to-door outreach on Wednesday to inform residents about the house allotment process.
In addition to the housing initiative, authorities are taking action to remove 1,600 illegally constructed homes encroaching upon the riverbed. Residents currently living in the Musi buffer zone will receive compensation for their displaced constructions.
During a recent review meeting focused on the Musi Riverfront Development and Metro Rail projects, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for urgent action against encroachments on ponds and canals. He directed officials to gather data on impoverished individuals residing in the catchment areas adjacent to the ponds and canals, ensuring they are offered either a double bedroom house or suitable alternatives.
Moreover, CM Reddy instructed the installation of CCTV cameras at ponds within the outer ring road to deter future encroachments. Hyderabad Commissioner Ranganath was also present at the review meeting, highlighting the collaborative efforts to enhance the city’s infrastructure and protect its water bodies.
