Vijayawada: Undi MLA Raghuramakrishna Raju has criticized former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy for avoiding a declaration of faith at Tirumala, as per temple traditions. Speaking at a press conference at the Undi Constituency Centre, Raju claimed that Jagan feared losing Christian votes if he publicly declared his belief in Lord Venkateswara (Srivari). He highlighted that even leaders like Abdul Kalam and Sonia Gandhi made such declarations during their visits to Tirumala.
Raju accused Jagan of disrespecting Hindu customs by wearing sandals on Tirumala’s streets and provoking officials when asked for the declaration. He further criticized the enforcement of Police Act 30 in Tirupati, questioning the preemptive actions taken by the police.
Raju emphasized that he respects all religions and follows Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s principles, insisting that the constitution should be upheld. He called for the immediate arrest of PV Sunil Kumar for his alleged involvement in targeting him.
Raju concluded by stating that he is not anti-Christian but firmly believes in respecting Hindu traditions at religious sites like Tirumala.
