In a shocking arrest on Friday, Chhattisgarh police arrested veteran journalist Vinod Verma from Indirapuram in Ghaziabad. Verma has been accused of threatening and blackmailing a politician.
After arresting Verma, the police took him to Ghaziabad police station and questioned him for several hours, about the allegations.
The police quizzed the journalist for allegedly possessing a CD with obscene content of the politician.
Vinod Verma is a member of Editors Guild of India and was the editor at BBC and Amar Ujala.
Former journalist and Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh was furious about Verma’s arrest and took to Twitter to say, “Vinod Verma Ex BBC n Amar Ujala Digital Editor has been picked up most mysteriously by UP N Chhattisgarh Police 3.30 A.M. Attack on press?”
The Ghaziabad police reported Vinod Verma’s arrest but have refused to reveal any further details.
