The police have gotten into gear and arrested three out of the four men who attacked a Swiss couple in Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh. The DGP PRO handling the case reported the arrest and stated the accused are minors.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Agra yesterday and said, “Two attackers have been arrested, and strict action will be taken against those involved in the attack. We have given instructions to police to strictly deal with such people. Our government will not accept such incidents.”
The Swiss couple, Quentin Jeremy Clerc, 24 and his girlfriend Marie Droz, also 24 came to India on 30th September on a tourist visa. On Sunday, Clerc explained he and his girlfriend were initially being followed by a group of young men, who later attacked them.

The neurosurgeon at the Apollo Hospital, Dr. Rajendra Prasad said Clerc was moved from the ICU to the ward. He said, “We have moved him out of the ICU into a room. He is having a hearing problem otherwise he is conscious and talking.”
The doctor further added it is uncertain whether Clerc will suffer permanent hearing damage.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj condemned this incident and said in the strongest terms it was a very shameful act bringing disrepute to the country.
Union Minister of State for Tourism K. J. Alphons sent a letter to CM Adityanath that read, “A fast and speedy response in identifying and ensuring speedy action, including conviction of the guilty, would be reassuring, as also a good message of our efforts to prevent recurrence of such incidents.”
The couple is in a state of shock as the attack left them severely injured. Clerc suffered a fractured skull that led to a blood clot in his brain and Droz’s arm was fractured.
