Vijayawada: The Regional Passport Office in Vijayawada has been honored with an award from the Ministry of External Affairs for its outstanding service, distinguishing it as the top performer in India. Vijayawada Regional Passport Officer Sivaharsha accepted the accolade from Minister of State for External Affairs Kirtivardhansingh at the Passport Seva Divas program held in Delhi on June 24.
During a press conference in Vijayawada on Wednesday, Sivaharsha highlighted the office’s impressive achievement of issuing a record 3.75 lakh passports in the 2023-24 period. This figure represents a 15 percent increase from the previous year across the country’s 37 passport region offices, with Vijayawada alone witnessing a growth of over 20 percent.
Sivaharsha credited this success to the collaborative efforts of 13 post office service centers and the passport offices in Vijayawada and Tirupati. He emphasized the office’s commitment to speeding up the passport issuance process, aiming to deliver passports within two to three days after application. Currently serving 600 people daily, the office plans to expand its capacity to accommodate 1,200 applicants per day in the near future.
This recognition highlights the Vijayawada Regional Passport Office’s dedication to providing efficient and timely passport services to the public.
