Kadapa: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, S B Amzath Basha, has firmly condemned the NDA government’s proposed amendments to the Waqf Act. Basha expressed the party’s strong opposition to these changes, urging the central government to withdraw its decision immediately.
Basha argued that the amendments infringe upon the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution, accusing the NDA government of attempting to undermine minority rights and religious freedom. He emphasized that once a property is donated to Waqf, it should remain under Waqf’s control permanently, and any alteration to this law is unjust.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Basha pointed out that there are 9 lakh acres of land under Waqf across the country, and he accused the NDA government of seeking to seize these properties through the proposed amendments. He further criticized the government for treating minorities as adversaries.
