Although the name and nationality of the suspect are not known, the police conjecture that he might be from East Turkestan, Afghanistan or Chechnya. The mayhem began when the unknown attacker arrived in a yellow taxi, shot a 21 year old policeman named Burak Yildiz stationed outside and then stormed in. The victims reported that he shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ as he charged his AK-47 on people. Of the 39 persons, 16 have been confirmed as nationals and two of these are from India. These unfortunate fellowmen were Abis Hasn Rizvi, son of Former Rajya Sabha MP and noted builder of Bandra in Mumbai Akhtar Hasan Rizvi, and Khushi Shah from Gujarat. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted, “I have a bad news from Turkey. We have lost two Indian nationals in the Istanbul attack. Indian Ambassador is on way to Istanbul,” confirming the bad news.

The recent reports now state that the incident had the hand of ISIS behind it. A statement released by the organization read as follows, “In continuation of the blessed operations that Islamic State is conducting against the protector of the cross, Turkey, a heroic soldier of the caliphate struck one of the most famous nightclubs where the Christians celebrate their apostate holiday.” The world is trying to reign in the terror of ISIS who also backed many other gun fires and bomb blasts before.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey tried to keep the morale and strength of the country and said in a statement that, “They are trying to demoralise our people and destabilise our country.

The City of Istanbul is now on high alert with more than 1700 police officers clocking in hours.
