Two District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel and eight Naxals were killed in an ongoing encounter in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, today.
The incident took place when a team of security officials was out on an Anti Naxal Operation in the area of Kistaram forest of Sukma district, 500 km from the Telangana border.
Abhishek Meena, Superintendent of Police, Sukma, said, “Eight bodies of Naxals have been found at the encounter spot.” He further added, a reinforcement team was immediately sent to the spot for rescue.
Chhattisgarh witnessed a number of Naxal attacks in the past few days. The Naxals tried to boycott the elections by attacking the areas where the polls were being conducted.
Chhattisgarh went for polling in two phases this month and the results of the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections will be announced on the 11th of December.
