Amaravati: Former MLA and YSR Congress Party leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi has faced a legal setback as the Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail plea in the Gannavaram TDP office attack case. The court, which had earlier reserved its verdict, rejected the petition on Thursday.

During the hearing, the government counsel argued that the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office took place on Vamsi’s orders, leading to vehicles being torched and people being terrorized. The prosecution informed the court that the case was diluted while the YSRCP was in power, and the accused were not arrested at that time. The government contended that granting early bail would hinder the ongoing investigation.

Vamsi’s legal team, however, claimed that the case was politically motivated and that their client had no involvement in the attack. Meanwhile, it is known that Vamsi was recently arrested in a separate case related to the kidnapping and assault of Dalit youth Satyavardhan. He is currently lodged in the Vijayawada district jail.

The High Court’s ruling is expected to have political repercussions, as Vamsi remains a key YSRCP leader in the Krishna district.
